After more than a decade of development, the number of vehicles has exceeded 30 million, and the retail sales of automobiles have reached 4.86 trillion yuan, accounting for 10.3% of the total retail sales of consumer goods in society. The added value of industries above designated size in the automobile manufacturing industry has increased by 13% year-on-year, all of which have made important contributions to the stable growth of China’s economy.
Secondly, new energy vehicles continue to lead the world. In 2023, the production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 9.587 million and 9.495 million, respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 35.8% and 37.9%. The sales of new vehicles accounted for 31.6% of the total sales of new vehicles, which is known as penetration rate. The semi-solid battery with a single energy density of 360 watt hours per kilogram was also installed in vehicles last year, and the new product was exhibited to the public at the Shanghai Auto Show in April last year. The performance of automotive grade computing power chips has been significantly improved, and popular products integrating various advanced technologies have emerged frequently, shining brightly at major auto shows.
Thirdly, foreign trade exports have further reached a new level. Last year, the total export of automobiles was 4.91 million, a year-on-year increase of 57.9%, and it is expected to jump to the world’s first place for the first time. Among them, the export of new energy vehicles was 1.203 million, a year-on-year increase of 77.6%, providing diversified consumption choices for global consumers. The export of power batteries reached 127.4 GWh, a year-on-year increase of 87.1%.
